Greetings Fans!!! As promised, you will get a sneak peak at what is going to be on the Kansas City Symphony’s new album with Reference Recordings. But, we aren’t going to indulge too much today. We are going to post here the press release for the pre-recording session concert that the Kansas City Symphony held June 4th. We have blanked out the names of the actual pieces because we will release that information on Monday! (So don’t think that the Kansas City Symphony puts out strange press releases)

Symphony presents free concert in preparation for CD recording project

(Kansas City) — Join Music Director Michael Stern and the Kansas City Symphony as they explore the compositional genius of British composer Benjamin Britten’s music, to be recorded for an upcoming Kansas City Symphony CD project for Reference Recordings.

This FREE concert will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 7:30pm at Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence. Although the event is FREE and open to the public, tickets are required and available through the Kansas City Symphony Box Office at 816.471.0400.

Enjoy music from Britten’s dramatic score to “————-,” one of the true operatic masterpieces of the 20th century. His important, controversial “——————-” is rooted in the darkness of World War II. Then , experience Britten’s spirited introduction to the orchestra’s different instrumental families, “—————————————” — a delightful piece used in music education for decades.

“We are delighted to continue our relationship with Reference Recordings and look forward to building on the great success of our first project — Shakespeare’s Tempest. With this free public concert, we will give the community a great chance to get a sneak preview of all the great music we will be recording. It’s a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to enjoy the Symphony at no charge,” said Executive Director Frank Byrne.

The Kansas City Symphony has previously recorded for Naxos, and Michael Stern has recorded for Sony, Arabesque, Denon, Hyperion, and Naxos. The Symphony’s previous CD, The Tempest, is available at all area Barnes and Noble stores, as well as online at www.allegro-music.com.
