We’ve been hinting at it for awhile, but today we’re telling you straight out, we’ve got a new Jazz release coming out next month (9/14) featuring Mike Garson on piano and Jim Walker on the flute in a crystalline-pure recording of soothing, meditative jazz called PIED PIPER (RR-121)!
For those that aren’t familiar with Jim Walker, he’s a dynamic soloist and legendary orchestral and studio musician. And of course, Mike Garson is best known for his work with David Bowie.
This is not the first time these two have come together on a Reference Recordings project. In 1985 they were featured on an 45 rpm audiophile LP which was rereleased as a CD in 1992. The album was RR-18 “Reflections” which is long out of print and considered an RR collectible! (You’ll have to tell us via Twitter or Facebook if you have it! Ron Wynn of All Music Guide reviewed “Reflections” and said “Pianist Mike Garson and flutist Jim Walker, both with jazz and classical backgrounds and experience, came together on this project to present songs that reflected both their backgrounds. The results are often musically impressive…As with all Reference releases, it’s superbly engineered and sounds wonderful.”
So get excited for the new Reference Recordings Jazz release “Pied Piper” coming out September 14th!
